Families By Dorothy and Tom Hoobler

I read the book 1990's Families by Dorothy and Tom Hoobler. This book is about a few different families, who are all brought together by the Y2K. They are all at their Great great grandmother Nell's 100th birthday party. The party takes place on the 31st of December, and one of the dad's is really concerned about the year, and he tried to keep all of his family in the bomb shelter that he built.

True Fact #1

People were all worked up about the Y2K they didn't pay attention to other things that were happening. In this book the dad was paying to much attention to the Y2K, that he didn't pay any attention to the family that he had around him. He missed his wife's great great aunt's 100th birthday party, which was on the 31st of December.

True Fact #2

People were getting prepared for the stroke of midnight, for the year 2000, because they all believed that the world was going to end, but it never happened.

True Fact #3

In the year 2000 the world was supposed to end, but never happened. All that happened that night, in this book, was the power went out for a few seconds, then came back on.

False Fact #1

The laptop wasn't invented until 1962, so there were laptops during the 1990's, but they weren't all that great. They had a small screen, and for the purpose used in this book, they weren't all that great for gaming.

False Fact #2

In the 1990's the children didn't have all the high tech games that the average kids have nowadays.

False Fact #3

One false thing in this book was that during the 1990's kids didn't have all the expensive stuff we have now. Only about 5% if people had computers, and those were desktops.
